* Respiratory Rate
Your respiratory rate during sleep is a crucial sleep metric. Pillow can now help you track your respiratory rate for each of your sleep sessions. All you have to do is wear your Apple Watch during sleep.
When you wake up, you can check your respiratory rate analysis by visiting the "Heart" tab of your sleep analysis. You can find a detailed chart of the average breaths per minute, average, minimum, and maximum “breaths per minute" values. You can also enter your age to let Pillow provide a rating of the values tracked.
To use this feature, please make sure you have updated your Apple Watch to the latest version (version 8 or newer) and that you use an Apple Watch Series 3 or newer.
To learn more about how Pillow tracks your respiratory rate and how it provides its rating, tap on the question mark (?) button that appears next to the title "Respiratory rate" under the "Heart" tab.

Jan 14, 2021 Version 4.0
=Our biggest update yet=
Rewritten and redesigned from the ground app, Pillow v.4.0 brings a much more intuitive UI with a focus on accessibility and many new features.
=Sounds & meditations for better sleep=
This version introduces a brand new tab dedicated to helping you fall asleep. We’ve worked with a host of creative professionals to bring you Meditations, Stories, Soundscenes and music engineered to help you wind down and fall asleep. And this is just the beginning. We’ll keep adding more content including meditations and stories available in multiple languages.
=Sleep analysis=
Our sleep analysis has become even more insightful. You can now swipe over the sleep analysis chart to review your sleep stages and a brand Score Analysis section helps you understand key data about each sleep session. Audio recordings are now much easier to navigate and manage.
=Trends that make sense=
It’s easy to become overwhelmed with information. We redesigned our sleep Trends section to display helpful dynamic summaries about key sleep metrics that update as you keep tracking your sleep. If you want to delve deeper, every metric has detailed analysis with the unique ability to compare each metric with many Apple Health categories.
=Customised presets=
With Pillow v.4.0 you can create multiple alarm presets with an intuitive interface. You can turn off any feature that you don’t want and all the presets are available on your Apple Watch too! One of the most powerful alarm features is the ability to create duration-based presets (e.g. wake me up in 8hrs) that so many of you have been asking.
=Many more features coming up=
As always our hope is that Pillow will help you sleep better and we remain committed to making this app even better. We are already working on many new features that will be rolling out after new Year’s.
Our best wishes to everyone and stay safe!

COVID-19 Announcement
Getting a good night’s sleep is important to stay physically and mentally strong during these difficult times caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Maintaining a regular sleep schedule and being more mindful of how your sleep is affected can help you make better decisions on a daily basis.
"Starting from this update we will be offering some of Pillow’s Premium features for free for the upcoming months:
- Nap modes are now free. Staying at home is a great opportunity to benefit from napping.
- Heart rate analysis is now free to help you check your heart rate during sleep
- All sleep aid content is now free to help you stay calm and fall asleep faster."
We hope that you will benefit from these features and we are already exploring other ways to make Pillow more affordable for everyone in a way that allows us to keep the lights on.
Our best wishes from all the team to stay healthy and safe. We can beat this.

- Better and energy-efficient alarms on the Apple Watch
Many users have complained about how much battery Pillow consumes on the Apple Watch when you set up an alarm to go off. Thanks to a brand-new feature in watchOS 6, Pillow requires a fraction of the battery for the alarm and the Smart wake-up feature.
When the alarm goes off on the Apple Watch, you will notice a UI that is very similar to the UI of the native alarm app. You can either select to stop the alarm or launch Pillow to snooze the alarm as usual. This mode is so energy efficient that Pillow doesn't need to warn you that you don't have enough battery. If you haven't installed watchOS 6, don't worry, Pillow will fall back to the old tracking method.
